2017 new refund policies:
Refund feess
Since Sep.25, 2012, Ticket refund fee standard of the National Railway Sector was cut down. The cancelation fee which used to be 20% of the price of each ticket was cut down to 5%, providing you refund the ticket within 48 hours. The cancellation fee is 10% of the original fare if you ask for a refund 24 to 48 hours before the scheduled departure time. The cancellation fee is still 20% of the original fare if you refund ticket within 24 hours before departure.
During China Spring Festival, the cancelation fee may be as high as 20% of the original fare whenever you refund ticket.
The minimum refund fee is 2 CNY for each ticket.
Refund time
► For individual, if you refund the ticket 15 days before the scheduled departure of the train, the ticket could be fully refunded.
► For group passengers, the refund should be deal 8 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.
► If you reserve a train ticket online and have not get the paper ticket, you can refund online 30 minutes at latest before the scheduled departure of the train. The refunded fare will be returned to your online payment tool within the prescribed time.
Suppose that you have already got the paper ticket (from train station) or you want to refund no more than 30 minutes before the scheduled departure, you need to bring with your passport and have your ticket refunded at the train station ticket window. You will also need to provide the ticket order number (E + 9 digits).
Refund location
No matter you reserve train tickets online or at the train station, you can have your train ticket changed or refunded at the train station ticket window, in any China cities.
You can not refund tickets at train ticket agencies.
Tips: passenger can also have train ticket changed for anther date or anther train online.
The Ticket refund policy of Guangzhou to Hong Kong train
It is an exception. A passenger should have the ticket refunded 2 hours before the departure time at the starting station, or 6 hours before the departure time in another city.
The cancelation fee is 50% of the original fare if the ticket refunded between 2 hours and 2 days before departure.
The cancelation fee is 30% of the original fare if the ticket refunded between 3 and 14 days before departure.
Passenger can get a full refund ticket 15 days before departure. But Hk $15 will be charged as commission fee.
A ticket can only changed for once. After changing the ticket, if the passenger do not want to travel, he/she could refund the ticket according to regulations. If the ticket is changed after departure of the train, it will not allow to be refunded.
Refund the ticket with “Xing”(meanings luggage) on it, you should firstly go through the luggage transportation change procedures.
If a passenger could not continue to travel on the train because of injury or disease, he/she could refund the ticket or the fare difference after the confirmation of the station and the train.
