Shanghai South Railway Station

Shanghai South Railway Station is located in southwest of Xuhui District, Shanghai, about 5 km away from Xujiahui city center. The main station house along with South Square and North Square covers an area of 60 hectares. It is east to Liuzhou Road, west to Laohumin Road, North to Humin Road and south to Shilong Road. The architectural designer of Shanghai South Railway Station is the French AREP Company (Group). The main station house was designed as a huge circular steel building with a height of 47 meters and a dome diameter of more than 200 meters. The station has a total construction area of over 50,000 square meters.



Shanghai South Railway Station is the southern gateway to the city center of Shanghai, as well as a major transportation hub contacting the Yangtze River, Pearl River Delta and other cities in southern China, including Hong Kong and Macao regions. Structure of Shanghai South Railway Station
The station is roughly divided into three layers. The middle layer is designed as platform, with 13 tracks and six passenger platforms. And there are also channels to connect with the North Square and South Square. There are also a VIP waiting room and police stations. The upper layer is the departure floor with an elevated ring starting platform, which has a circumference of 800 meters. There is also a large waiting room that can accommodate thousands of people and ticket channels, etc. The lower layer is the arrival floor with outbound tunnel for travelers, underground transfer hall, Metro Line No.1 and No.3, taxi and some long-distance buses etc. there are two squares in the station, South Square and North Square. In the Squares have parking lots and shopping stores.
