Phoenix Mosque, or know as Fenghuang Mosque, is located in the Zhongshan Road of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is one of the four big ancient China Islamic mosques (the other three are Xianhe Mosque in Yangzhou, Qingjing Mosque in Quanzhou and Huaisheng Mosque in Guangzhou). It has become one of the famous Hangzhou Attractions, and enjoys a high reputation among the Arab State.

Phoenix Mosque covers an area of about 2600 square meters; its construction area is about 1370 square meters and its worship house area is about 570 square meters. This mosque has accessory facilities like water room and morgue. It is a main place of Islamic religious festival activities, and also is center of Hangzhou's Islamic worship.

Due to its similar appearance with phoenix, it got its name "Phoenix Mosque". This mosque has a long history. It was first built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), and destroyed in the Song dynasty (960-1279). In 1281, during Yuan Dynasty (1206-1368), the famous Islam, A LaoDing began to rebuild this mosque; and in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), in the year of 1451 to 1493, this mosque was rebuilt and expanded again, and finally form existing buildings scale. In 1646, the Qing government ordered again to reconstruct it, making it become one of the China's largest mosques at that time.

The existing Phoenix Mosque covers an area of 2600 square meters. The main building are hall, assembly hall, worship house, etc...The worship house was a building without beam built in the Yuan Dynasty. Inside the mosque, there are many cultural relics and art, wooden scriptures and some inscriptions. The audience hall is the oldest building in this mosque.
