One Day Chengdu Panda Volunteer Tour

China Conservation and Research Certer for the Giant Panda Dujiangyan Base is at present the only place in Chengdu who offer panda keeper volunteer program to the public who love pandas.If you want to keep close to giant pandas, it is your choice; if you want to know more about pandas, this tour is suitable for you. The giant panda keeper program includes cleaning the enclosure for pandas, feeding, watching panda movie, making panda cakes. The working hours are from 09:00 am to 03:30 pm. The Dujiangyan Panda Base canteen provide lunch for free to every volunteers. At the end of the event, you will be awarded a certificate providing your love to pandas amd receive a fine souvenir.

Dujiangyan Panda Volunteer Program Timetable

Tour Details

07:00-07:30 Our guide pick you up from your hotel located in the downtown of Chengdu. The experienced driver and professional English speaking guide will transfer you to China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda Dujiangyan Base directly.

08:30-09:00 Register. Giant panda volunteer registers and sign a security contract with the Giant Panda Volunteer Service Center. After that, all the volunteers are offered overalls and gloves. Before work, all the volunteers will be given job safety training and introduction of the job content.

09:00-10:00 To be a giant panda keeper. Clean the residual bamboo and their feces in the exlosure for pandas. Observe giant pandas' living environment and state. Clean the panda's house.

10:00-11:00 Visit giant panda villa area under the guidance of the instructor. Tour around Dujiangyan Panda Base, watching the adorable giant pandas closely.

11:00-11:30 Feed a panda. Feed a panda with the delicious specially prepared “steamed bun”(panda cakes), vegetable and fruits.

12:00-13:00 Have lunch and a short break. All the volunteers will have a lunch with the staffs in the panda protection and research center.

13:00-14:00 Watch panda movie. Watch some science video about giant pandas to know how the human protect giant pandas and live in harmony with pandas.

14:00-14:50 Feed a panda. Feed a giant panda with the delicious specially prepared “steamed bun”, vegetable and fruits.

14:50-15:30 To be a panda nutritionist. The instructor explains the panda cake's formula first, then all the volunteers make panda cakes for giant pandas under the instructor's leading.

15:30 Receive a certificate. You will be awarded an unique certificate for panda volunteer keeper as an unforgetable experience, showing your love to giant panda. Then return the working overalls and see goodbye to the giant pandas and your instructor.

15:30-16:30 Our guide and driver transfer you back to your hotel in the downtown of Chengdu.

Service Ends

Age limit
1. Adults between 12 years old and 65 years old.
2. If you have children under 12 years old, you can take them with you during the program, but you must ensure that they do not have direct contact with pandas and also keep them out of the room where the panda cage is. They can wait for you at the door where they have chance to watch you cleaning the exclosure of panda and feeding a panda.

Notes:
1. Dujiangyan Panda Base provides overalls and gloves to volunteers. Please do not wear slippers
2. Please do not use perfume, floral water or any irritating thing, ect and do not paint your nails.
3.Please  read the security agreement carefully when you register the program. Giant panda looks adorable and harmless, but it is a carnivores. You are not allowed to touch the pandas. Every volunteer should follow the instructor's guidance and arrangements and strictly abide by the rules and regulations.
4.The lunch offered at the panda base canteen is for free to volunteers. You do not need to prepare your own food in advance.
5.The pick up services is from a hotel in the downtown of Chengdu. The accommodation at the panda base is excluded.
6.As a giant panda volunteer keeper, you have a grave responsibility. Do not lark and take pictures during the work.If you feel uncomfortable, please report to the instructor immediately.
