Tour Itinerary

Day 1Arrival Siem Reap, Angkor Complex

Meals: Lunch
Overnight: In Siem Reap

Arrive in Siem Reap in the morning and transfer to the gathering hotel by our driver, then followed by a welcome lunch. Siem Reap is the gateway to Angkor and we will have five days to enjoy the town and its surroundings.

In the afternoon we will begin to explore the complex of Angkor Wat, the world's wonder. We will go to the temples by tuk-tuk, our famous local transport. The wall of Angkor Wat surrounded by the enclosure measures 1,000 by 800 meters and the moat. This amazing temple homes the longest continuous bas relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls. End of today, we will ride elephants to the hilltop temple of Phnom Bakheng, climb the imposing remains and meet the crowd for a truly memorable sunset.

Day 2 Angkor Complex (30 km, full day cycling)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Overnight: In Siem Reap

After breakfast, we will ride our bicycles to the temples complex where we'll first stop at the jungle temple of Ta Prohm. It has been largely consumed by the jungle and as you will climb through the dilapidated stone structures you will see many giant trees growing out of the top of the temple itself. At every turn, you will expect to see Indiana Jones or Lara Croft step out from behind a fallen pillar. Ta Phrom looks as many of the monuments did when European explorers first laid eyes on them. Afterward, we will continue to bike through the Victory gate to reach the royal city of Angkor Thom. Our visit will begin with the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of Leper King. We will continue to the Bayon, a pyramid temple decorated with about 200 gigantic carved heads. Then, we will have lunch in one of the local restaurants around the temple, and in the afternoon, we will continue to bike along the “grand circuit” to see more temples of the Angkor Era, such as Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Ta Som, East Mebon, Pre Rup and, if we still have time, Banteay Kdei.

Day 4Siem Reap Countryside (40km cycling)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Overnight: In Siem Reap

In the morning, we will follow some small bucolic roads west of Siem Reap, toward Puok village. We will cycle through the countryside and cross villages before we reach the Sangkheum Center for Children, an NGO which provides a home for orphaned, abused, or neglected children, as well as general education and selected vocational training. We will visit the center to learn more about their work and see the children in training in the workshops. Afterward, we will go to the Western Baray, an ancient reservoir. This artificial lake is now a recreational place for the locals who flock here on the weekend. We will have lunch in this lovely place and spend a part of the afternoon swimming and tubing or on a boat trip to the island to visit the ruins of the western Mebon. On the way back, we will stop at the small village of Banteay Chreu to visit the popular Buddhist temple Svay Romeat from where we can have a whole view of the surrounding countryside.
