History and Development of Chengdu Railway Station
In June, 1950, Chengdu - Chongqing Railway Station began the construction. On July 1st, 1952, the railway began to operate.
In 1952, the Chengdu Railway Station was completed the construction.
In 1970, Chengdu - Kunming Railway was put into operation. Chengdu Railway Station became the first class railway station and the largest railway station in southwest China.
In 1971, it send 13.349 million passengers, 9.1 million tons of goods, received 12.11 million tons of goods.
In 1982, the old facility of the railway station was dismantled, and the new Chengdu Railway Station began construction and was put into service in 1984.
In 2005, the comprehensive renovation of the Chengdu Railway Station was completed. The new Chengdu Railway Station is lager and with new constructed multifunctional waiting zone.
Now, annual passenger volume reaches nearly 28 million person-time and more than 70000 daily.
