Best Time to Visit Xinjiang

The best time to travel in Xinjiang should be July and August, when the whole Xinjiang is beautiful. When you travel to Xinjiang, you will find that the scenery of  the Northern Xinjiang and the Southern Xijiang is quite different. Therefore, each part of Xinjiang has its own best time for travel.
 

Northern Xinjiang: July to September is the best time 

Northern Xinjiang is the northern part of Xinjiang, including Urumqi, Turpan, Altay, Tacheng, Changji, Yili, and other regions. In the eyes of Xinjiang people, southern Xinjiang is completely different from northern Xinjiang, where there are the many magnificent wonders, such as the fairyland of Kanas Lake, the paradise Hemu Village, the pearl of prairie --- Sailimu Lake, the magnificent grassland Gongnais, amazing Colorful Beach, the forbidden land of Wuerhe and so on. Many enthusiastic Kazakhs and Oirat Mongols live in northern Xinjiang. 

The summer of 7-8 months is the excellent time to appreciate lavender fields and rapeseed, and the landscape of the “eastern Switzerland”, which consists of grassland, lake water and snow mountain. The landscape of norther Xinjiang is in its best condition during this period. In September, the very popular autumn scenery of Kanas gradually comes to its best.  Consisting of rhe golden yellow birch forest and the tutile family of cooking smoke , it is a photographer's favorite paradise.

Southern Xinjiang: August to October is the best time

Southern Xinjiang is the southern part of Xinjiang, encompassing the Tarim Basin, the Xinjiang part of the Kunlun Mountains, and the Turpan Basin. This is the hinterland of the Eurasian continent, the farthest place from the ocean, and the climate is dry all year round. The largest Taklamakan Desert in China is located in southern Xinjiang. Since ancient times, southern Xinjiang is an area where many ethnic groups resident together. The arts and customs of Uygur, Tajik and other ethnic groups are colorful, forming a cultural landscape with strong ethnic characteristics. Hundreds of ancient cities, ancient tombs, Thousand-Buddha Caves and other historical sites left on the two main lines of the ancient Silk Road show the long history and vicissitudes of life. However, due to climate change and man-made destruction, Has become a sparsely populated desolate land. People mainly live and produce in oasis on the edge of the desert.

From August to October, the southern Xinjiang is cooler, and it is a season of fruits.Traveling in southern Xinjiang at this season is a very good choice. The colorful ethnic customs of Kashgar, the vastness of the Pamirs plateau; the majestic beauty of the Hotan Kunlun Mountains, the simple nature of the folk customs of Hotan; the desert scenery of Kuqa, Korla, and the mysterious Grand Canyon of Kuqa, etc. all the beautiful scenery is waiting for you.

Travel to Xinjiang in Spring

Spring (March to May) in Xinjiang is always short. Due to the invasion of the cold air, there often appear high winds. This is also a feature of the Xinjiang climate. The average temperature should be 10~22℃. It is great time to see something green.

South and North Slope of Tianshan Mountain: In spring, the snow melts and grass just unearths; the blue sky, white clouds and green grass make people relaxed and happy.
Toyukmazar: Located in Shanshan County, it is the most mysterious place in the west of Xinjiang, and the holy land of the Buddhism and Islam.

The autumn months between September and November have the best weather changes from 22~10℃ and fewer tourists without the disturbance of summer heat and winter coldness. In this season, travelers can enjoy the red autumn leaves and the vast desert land.

• Taklimakan Desert: Located in the middle of Tarim Basin, here you can enjoy the fantastic desert landscapes.
