Bangchui Island

Bangchui Island (Chinese name: 棒棰岛) is known for its beautiful pebbly beach and secluded swimming bay. Located at the eastern end of Binhai Road in Dalian, this scenic zone is about 9 kilometers from the city proper. Costal Road which links to Bangchui Island will show you the best view of ocean. In the northern part of the scenic zone stand the green mountains, and in the southern part, there is a vast expanse of sea area and smooth sandy beaches.

This scenic area offers diverse range of attractions both natural and manmade, including islets, scenic hills, cliffs, a beach resort, Bangchui Island and Banchui Island Guesthouse. It makes an ideal choice for a summer vacationing spot due to the mild climate, white sand beaches, clear water and gentle waves. Because of its natural beauty, Dalian State Hotel has set up villas on the mountainside with different buildings scattered in the green woods, contributing to the beauty. It has been a famous summer resort or a recuperating place for national leaders.

Visitors at the Bangchui Island Guesthouse usually get up early to enjoy impressive sunrises. Originally built in the 1960s, the guesthouse has an 18-hole golf course, a bowling alley, a tennis court, a swimming pool and other modern recreational facilities. Sea water near Bangchui Island in Dalian is quite clear; the sand beach is fine and clean.

How to get there

Since there is no direct normal public bus to get there, but your can take sightseeing bus in Friendship Square to reach there directly; or you can take Public Bus 703 in Friendship Square, then get off at Shan Ping Street Station and walk for about 40 minutes to board the island (this way can only work for energetic young people). While walking, green lawn along the road is attractive as well, with many interesting statues. In stead, you can take sightseeing bus from south square of Dalian Railway Station, which departs every half an hour every day from mid-April to mid-October. Returning bus or taxi is quite limited. You can take a so-call black car(run by private car) to get back to the town. The price is negotiatable, so do not forget to do the bargain. One more thing to remind, Bangchui Island is not open for whole day. it is closed at 5:00pm.
